starters-feature-GAF

Every roof has to start somewhere, and that somewhere is at the appropriately named starter shingle (also called starter strip).

Starter shingles are the initial shingle products installed on the roof, just before the first course of the finish shingles, which will comprise the visible parts of the roof.

Properly installed starter shingles are also a key component to help guard again shingle blow-offs.

GAF-Asphalt-Roof-Replacement-Roof-Deck-Protection

This layer of your roof system is typically made of asphalt saturated felt or modern synthetic materials.

It covers your entire roof deck, acting as a secondary moisture barrier between the roof deck and the overlying shingles (or other roof covering) to help prevent wind-driven rain from infiltrating your home through the roof.

leak barrier

By creating a barrier at the most vulnerable areas of your asphalt shingle or metal roof (at the eaves and rakes, in valleys, around chimneys, etc.), StormGuard® Film-Surfaced Leak Barrier helps prevent leaks due to water backing up in your gutters, and wind-driven rain.

It will also help protect your home from expensive wall and ceiling staining from leaks.  StormGuard® Film-Surfaced Leak Barrier is a key part of the GAF Lifetime Roofing System.  It’s eligible for Lifetime ltd. warranty when used on Lifetime Shingle roofs and it’s an eligible component of GAF residential enhanced warranties.

It’s also covered by up to a 10-year ltd. warranty when used with other approved non-asphaltic roof coverings.
